Presenting the subject for Afghanistan’s portrait
Pashtana Durrani
Pashtana runs a youth led program providing educational and health support to girls in rural communities in Kandahar, Afghanistan. Part of the program includes installing solar panels, sourcing electronic tablets and training teachers in the delivery of cheap sustainable, day long education
Pashtana has been passionate about making real changes to help sustainably educate the 2.2 million girls in Afghanistan who currently receive suboptimal education.
Training teachers to deliver digital education, loading tablets with education resources and installing tablets driven by solar power in community schools has been at the heart of the program for Learn Afghanistan, an organisation founded and led by Pashtana.
